new bead

Meet Yellow Streak. He's a bit of a shy bead, so please be nice as he has some very pretty webbing next to that yellow streak!

I currently (21st March 2009) have six auctions running on eBay, and this one will be going up soon so that will make seven. Feel free to take a look!

The Organic bug...

...has well and truly got me in its clutches! I can't seem to stop playing with the ivory, grays and browns. So here are some examples of my recent focal beads, all available now (or coming soon!) on my eBay.

Someone, please take them off my hands before I decide to keep them. I have some sort of collecting sickness that should not be encouraged!

The Critters have landed...

After what felt like an age of waiting (and was, in fact, only seven business days) my two sterling silver charm beads from Charmish have arrived. I was so excited to rip open the package and I certainly wasn't disappointed!

The charms are well made, well polished and very intricately designed. You can't see in the pictures below, but the little croc has tiny little scales on his belly that are very cute indeed. And the startled looking octopus' legs are all individually detailed, not just the ones you can see from the front of the bead.

I have a Trollbeads bracelet (which is thinner than Pandora), so the beads just slide on without any of that screw-on business. However, my mum has a Biagi (same size and basic design as Pandora), and I tested the beads on that as well. They screwed on easily and slide freely along the bracelet.

I would recommend any European-style charm collectors to take a look at the Charmish shop at Etsy. Aly is adding new designs frequently and they would be a charming (sorry, couldn't resist!) addition to anyone's charm bracelet.

Oh, and incidentally, the glass beads featured in the pictures above are available to purchase right now on my Artfire and eBay pages!

Charmish on Etsy

I was introduced to the work of a relatively new Etsy seller whilst visiting a thread on the Lampwork etc forum a couple of days ago. Charmish is a designer of sterling silver charms that fit onto the popular European style charm bracelets, like Trollbeads, Pandora and Biagi etc.

Her designs are quirky and fun, and she tells me that she has more in the pipeline. What's not to like about a somewhat startled-looking octopus? I cannot wait for it to arrive, and when it does no doubt it will be spotted in my next posting with pride of place on my trollbeads bracelet.

But while we wait, here's a link to Charmish on Etsy and a lovely picture of the octopus charm to whet your appetite!

New beads on Artfire and eBay

Well, it was quite quiet on the blogging front for a few days, so I'm sorry about that. I was getting together some new big hole bead sets to list on Artfire and eBay, and I've also created a juicy new focal bead that I love. But I will force myself to part with it if it manages to find a new loving owner!

Reichenbach Mystic glass. You've got to love that pearly lustre! This set was created with Mystic Beige and Gray, and the middle bead is a reactive Reichenbach colour called Silver Brown (or Silberbraun I think it would be in German). There's seven beads in the set, and the colours are lovely and neutral.

This set has more Reichenbach Mystic Beige, as well as light and silvered ivory, and some blue and pink for extra colour.

Ok, yes, so that's a lot of pictures for one bead. But I do like the colours! This is a focal created with a base of light blue, and then encased with transparent inky blue, dark purple and aqua glass. I added a stripe of silver glass (picasso) and let gravity do its thing to create the swirls. I then added dots in the inky blue and some cranberry pink for variety. The dots are honking big, but I like them that way!

website coming soon

I have decided to start my own website and am busy tinkering with the layout and getting my content together. I expect that it will be online in the next couple of weeks, and I'll have some promotions going at the start of the launch, so keep an eye out on my blog for further updates of when it will be ready!

In the meantime, here is a new item that will be finding its way on to my Artfire shop in the near future:
